Wittgenstein's Nephew Signed First Edition Reference
Wittgensteins Neffe (Suhrkamp, 1982; English: Knopf, 1989) is Bernhard’s most autobiographical work — a memoir of his friendship with Paul Wittgenstein, a nephew of the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein, whom Bernhard met in a sanatorium. Both were hospitalized: Bernhard for a lung condition, Paul for madness. The novella is a tender, furious elegy for a friend destroyed by Austrian society’s indifference.
